Team 14H Racing was formed in 2008. Many people including friends and family have been a part of the team since its beginning.
Our current team consists of our Driver Jim, Crew Chief: Andrew, friends Jimmy, Lorne and wife Steph; along with junior crew chief in training Kaleb and the newest wrench-man in training Knox. As well you will always be sure to find mom (Reggie) videoing from the stands. Our team works very well together and promotes a professional appearance at weekly racing and when travelling to other tracks. We have a systematic game plan which we stick to each week for preparation and maintenance, which is then reflected in our racing. This has proven to be a successful and consistent strategy for our team each week.
2017 was very successful with a feature win in June of 2017, 2 Top Gun Awards (most sprint cars passed in the Heat Race). Rounding out our season with a nail bitting Championship point battle narrowly missing our 3rd Championship but still finishing with a well-earned 2nd place in the point standings at Ohsweken Speedway!
2016 shaped up to be another year which reflects on the consistency of our team. We were very happy to get a feature win in July of 2016 which was something we had just narrowly missed in past races. As well as taking the team on the road again: this year to Eldora Speedway in Ohio where diver Jim made the main event! We rounded out our season with a tight battle in the Championship point standings at Ohsweken Speedway where we again finished with a solid 6th place, just 3 points shy from a 5th place finish!
2015 proved to be a good year for our driver Jim and Team 14H racing. We struggled a bit with our car and motor in 2015 but always managed to stay consistent which resulted in 6th place overall finish in the championship standings at Ohsweken Speedway. As well the team travelled to Knoxville, Iowa for the 360 Nationals, where Jim had put in some strong racing but unfortunately our motor gave us some troubles cutting our racing short on that trip. But all-in-all we chalk it up to an amazing experience both on and off the track.
But 2015 did finish with an extremely personal high point for Jim and then girlfriend Steph as they welcomed their son Knox James Kaarlo Huppunen into their lives.
The 2014 race season had many highlights for Team 14H and our driver Jim; one being a 3rd place finish in the Ohsweken track championship. Unfortunately our year did not end on that high note, with the sudden passing of Jim’s father (George Huppunen) and then shortly after his grandmother Saara Huppunen passed as well.
George was an integral part of Team 14H’s racing success. He was our “go to guy” always offering insight and spending many nights in the race shop helping Jim get the car in top racing form for the next week’s events. You could always find George in the pits on race nights giving advice and suggestions not only to our team but other racers as well.
Mummi, (Saara) was everyone’s Mummi, and for those who knew her, up until the last few years she was still attending weekly races at the speedway cheering on the team.
We will miss them both and our team will not be the same without them.
